We’re Hiring: Legacy Writers with Heart, Grit, and Vision
Part-time | Remote | Town-based roles across the UK
Do you believe that every life holds a story worth telling?
Are you a natural listener—someone who hears not just words, but meaning?
Do you have the writing skills to turn memories into memoirs, and moments into legacy?
We’re looking for retired teachers, former journalists, community leaders, and seasoned writers who still burn with ambition and purpose. If you’ve spent a lifetime guiding others, crafting stories, or shaping minds—and you’re ready for a new chapter—we want to hear from you.
Who You Are:
- A compassionate listener who can hold space for others’ memories with care and curiosity
- A skilled writer who can shape raw stories into emotionally resonant, well-structured narratives
- A retired educator, writer, or professional communicator with a love for lifelong learning
- Ambitious and proactive, eager to grow with a mission-driven creative team
- Comfortable working independently from your own town, while collaborating remotely with a wider network
What You’ll Do:
- Interview storytellers—often elderly or terminally ill clients—and help them preserve their life stories
- Write and edit memoirs, photographic biographies, or legacy letters with warmth and clarity
- Collaborate with our creative team to shape content for both print and digital platforms
- Contribute ideas for interactive storytelling formats (e.g., Q&A videos, audio notes, memory games)
- Help bring dignity, humor, and humanity to every page
Why Join Us:
- Flexible, meaningful work that fits your schedule and your town
- Be part of a growing movement that values empathy, legacy, and creative excellence
- Training, editorial support, and a community of like-minded storytellers
- Competitive project-based pay, with opportunities for growth and creative leadership
If you’re ready to turn your listening ear and writing voice into a gift for others—and help families preserve what matters most—we’d love to meet you.
To apply, email us – info@thestoryinportrait.com, a short note about who you are, where you’re based, and why this work speaks to you. Writing samples welcome but not required.
